Ontario's highest court Decriminalizes Brothels

The matter is essentially a political matter and not a judicial one. The court did make it clear that there needs to be more dialogue around values, autonomy, equality, etc. They were primarily concerned with the safety of prostituted women in this case. They found that the laws as they are now further jeopardize the safety of an already vulnerable and abused population of people - the prostituted women. This is true; the only problem is they went about correcting the problem in a counterproductive way that will only proliferate the problem.

The most effective way to deal with this problem is to adopt the Nordic model, which criminalizes the demand (buyers of sex) and pimps, and decriminalizes the women and offers them exit strategies. The government has the power to end this all by changing the laws surrounding prostitution (presently, prostitution is not illegal) so that it will no longer be deemed unconstitutional to hold those who are living off the avails of prostitution criminally liable.

The Masculine Piety called Sexism

Well, I came into tonight's DG 2012 Pastors Conference message anticipating some more insults against women, and Doug Wilson did not disappoint. Sadly, neither did the men who affirmed his preposterous sexism with "Amens!" a' plenty.

Doug would have us believe that women’s ordination is an issue, and will continue to be an issue (praise God!), because the church has drifted to "feminist virtues" and has forced men to conform to those feminine virtues. But, unfortunately, we are left to figure out what exactly these feminine virtues are.

For example, how might one define feminine virtues in distinction to masculine virtues? And what if I don't quite fit into that mold - am I less feminine? Where do we women find our feminine head to grow up into, since men have a monopoly on the very masculine God the Father and Jesus Christ?

What I found immensely insulting is when he claimed that because the church has been feminized, we no longer think of the pulpit as a place that requires courage to occupy. And as if that weren't enough, he then had the unmitigated gall to claim that old women only want the "sweet boy" in ministry, and this sweetness, he claims, is the best candidate for future ministry in the estimation of the feminine. And to that, I have something to say.

How dare you label my fellow sisters with such gender-stereotypical nonsense!
I would kindly refer you back to my earlier post to read about the courageous Sophie Scholl, just one of the many, many strong, brave, theologically-grounded, and self-sacrificial Christian women whom this world was not worthy of.

If biblical authority bleeds - if it gladly assumes sacrificial responsibility - if toughness lays beneath tenderness like a velvet-covered brick - then she was more a leader and man than any of you pampered brats who were there sitting in that comfortable conference, having your every need satisfied as you simply got better at talking the talk!

The problem, my brother and fellow heir of the grace of God, if it is true that there is a general lack of courage coming from behind the pulpit, is certainly not because men are  being forced to act like women. I'll have you know that women do not all act wimpy, illogical and theologically soft any more than all men act that way. And if there does seem to be a disproportionate amount of female wimps, it might be because you and the rest of the elite theological bullies are using the force of God to tell them that in order to please Him, they must "be quiet" and "submissive."

Doug Wilson, it is your kind that makes women afraid to speak up lest they defy this "natural order of things" and get accused of having the spirit of Jezebel by their beloved church communities.

Doug Wilson maintains that the church needs a healthy dose of masculine piety, but also failed to define that. Well, if he is correct in that imitation governs the world, then he has very clearly legislated this "masculine piety" - his gender-stereotyping and insulting the courage and strength of women - into the world of Christian men. Very good. Just what we need.

I could get into some more errors and incidentals that were sprinkled throughout tonight's message, but not tonight. For tonight I will be resting uneasy as I pray that the stench of this chauvinistic pig-fest doesn't follow these pastors home to stink up their families and churches. And if this seems harsh, then I suggest you think about the harshness of the constant stream of these very degrading messages to Christian women and little girls that are ever flowing from these complementarians .I know that I will not be teaching my daughters that, 1) their femininity makes them weak and wimpy, and 2) that their femininity is to blame for any negative state the church and culture may be in today. That would be nothing short of child abuse.
